LUMINA

Two Technologies, One Platform — Silky Smooth Skin

LUMINA is a dual-technology aesthetic platform that combines Near Infrared (NIR) skin tightening with Dye Pulsed Light (DPL) hair removal and skin treatments in a single console. A German Heraeus infrared light source provides the uniform, stable output required for consistent clinical results across all skin types. With three operational bands — NIR (900–1800 nm), HDPL (640–850 nm), and SDPL (530–850 nm) — LUMINA addresses hair removal, skin tightening and lifting, brightening, acne, and vascular and pigmented lesions in one platform, with zero downtime for the client.

Technology

Key Features

NIR Skin Tightening (900–1800 nm)

Near Infrared energy at 900–1800 nm penetrates to the deep dermis and subdermal layer, delivering controlled thermal stimulation that triggers collagen remodelling and progressive tissue tightening. The result is a visible lifting effect that improves with each session — a compelling upsell alongside the hair removal programme.

HDPL Hair Removal (640–850 nm)

High-Definition Pulsed Light in the 640–850 nm range provides targeted follicle destruction across the primary diode hair removal window, matching the efficacy of dedicated diode lasers for most hair and skin type combinations while covering large areas rapidly.

SDPL Skin Treatments (530–850 nm)

Standard DPL in the 530–850 nm range addresses the broadest range of chromophore targets — melanin in pigmented lesions and freckles, oxyhaemoglobin in vascular lesions and acne, and a range of skin tone concerns — making LUMINA a multi-indication platform with a single device investment.

German Heraeus Infrared Light Source

Heraeus is a global leader in specialty light sources for medical applications. The Heraeus lamp inside LUMINA delivers exceptionally uniform spectral output, long service life, and batch-to-batch consistency — qualities that translate directly into predictable clinical results and lower consumable cost.

Zero Downtime

Non-ablative and non-invasive, LUMINA treatments leave the skin surface intact. Clients can apply makeup and return to work immediately after a session, removing a significant barrier to uptake for busy professionals.

All Skin Types

The combination of NIR and DPL wavelength bands allows parameter customisation across Fitzpatrick I–VI, making LUMINA a genuinely inclusive platform for diverse clinic demographics.

Common Questions

FAQ

How is LUMINA different from a standard IPL device?
Standard IPL uses a broad, unfiltered light spectrum. LUMINA separates its output into three precision wavelength bands — NIR for tightening, HDPL for hair removal, and SDPL for skin treatments — and uses a Heraeus professional light source for spectral uniformity. This provides more predictable outcomes and allows true indication-specific treatment rather than a general broad-spectrum approach.
Can both NIR and DPL be used in the same session?
Yes. A common protocol is to perform hair removal with HDPL first, then follow with a NIR skin tightening pass over the same area in the same appointment. Clients benefit from two complementary treatments in a single visit, improving both the experience and the visible results.
Is LUMINA suitable for skin of colour?
The NIR band (900–1800 nm) has minimal melanin competition, making it safe across skin tones. For hair removal, HDPL parameters should be adjusted for higher Fitzpatrick types. As with all light-based devices, a patch test and consultation are recommended for Fitzpatrick V–VI skin.
